KU tennis blanks Nebraska-Omaha

? Kansas University’s women’s tennis team blanked Nebraska-Omaha, 7-0, on Friday, improving the 68th-rated Jayhawks’ dual-match record to 8-3.

For the third consecutive day, the Jayhawks took the doubles point. KU defeated UNO on all three doubles courts. Dylan Windom and Maria Jose Cardona registered an 8-2 win over Nebraska-Omaha’s Alex Tran and Tiffany Hottman at No. 1, while Paulina Los and Maria Belen Ludueña defeated UNO’s Molly Matricardi and Rachel Pierson, 8-1, at No. 2, and Victoria Khanevskaya and Anastasija Trubica defeated UNO’s Lindsay Wiedeman and Jacqueline Baude, 8-3.

KU remained perfect on the morning in singles, picking up wins on all six courts without dropping a single set. Cardona knocked off Marticardi, 6-2, 6-2, and Ludueña picked up a 6-3, 6-0 win over UNO’s Tran. Los was a 6-1, 6-0 winner over Baude, while Windom collected a 6-3, 6-1 victory over UNO’s Hottman. Trubica blanked UNO’s Wiedeman, 6-0, 6-0, and Khanevskaya tallied a 6-1, 6-0 triumph over Pierson.

KU will look to improve on its three-match winning streak when it plays host to Kansas State on March 30 at the Jayhawk Tennis Center. First serve is slated for 1 p.m.
