We are unhappy with the apparent City Commission decision over the issue of curbside recycling service. We have been out of town for most of February and March and therefore are just catching up to City Commission decisions. We have been customers of Deffenbaugh since they first started their services to Lawrence residents. Deffenbaugh is a leader in how to efficiently and economically deal with recycling. They charge a better rate than the one projected for the alternative. Every other week will not be sufficient for anyone who seriously wants to recycle as much as possible. As a household of only two, we nearly fill our Deffenbaugh recycle container weekly. We only fill about half our city trash container and we have the smallest one. Deffenbaugh appears to be the best solution, but the current city commissioners seem to favor an unknown, higher-priced and less-experienced provider.
