From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for March 7, 1913:

• “The Methodist ministers who have been in Lawrence last week are going to be taken over the city in automobiles tomorrow, Saturday afternoon, at 1 o’clock. The visitors will be taken all over the city and wind up with a visit to the University and to Haskell Institute. It will take forty automobiles to take these people around and the Automobile Association not only calls out all its members, but desires all owners of machines in the city to be at the Methodist church tomorrow at 1 o’clock promptly to take these people around. It is important that owners of machines turn out and take these visitors and it is equally important that they be on time.”
• “The senate sitting in Committee of the whole this morning O.K.’d the claim of the City of Lawrence property owned by the state. This property is the University of Kansas campus, about which there has been considerable paving done in the past. The amount of the claim of the city is $8,694.70…. The approval of the senate as a committee of the whole is practically equivalent to its passage by that body.”
• “J. W. Griffin was quite severely injured this afternoon when he was thrown from his wagon when a team of horses he was driving became frightened and ran away. The accident occurred in the 500 block of Tennessee street. Two other occupants of the wagon were able to retain their seats and finally stopped the frightened animals by turning them into a yard. The wagon was badly demolished.”
