Housing organizations team with artists to explore concept of ‘Nesting’

What does it mean to live in a nest, a home or interior? Where is the nest, the best air-conditioned place on a hot summer day? Is it your pile of pillows around a TV, or a mythological place? Is it empty?

The Lawrence Percolator has teamed up with two community housing organizations to answer those questions through art.

The resulting exhibit, called “Nesting,” is on display through this month’s Final Friday, June 28, at the Percolator, located in the alley behind 913 Rhode Island St. Hours are noon to 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. the last Friday of each month.

The show is a collaboration among the Percolator, project space of the Lawrence Cooperation for the Advancement of Visual Arts; Tenants to Homeowners, which oversees a program that builds, renovates and sells homes below market value to moderate-income buyers; and Eastside Village Lawrence, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a network that would enable residents to age in their homes.
