Veritas fills football vacancy

Veritas Christian School varsity football coach Doug Bennett has retired after 10 years with the program he started.

Bennett, who has been on the Eagles’ sideline since their first season in 2003, will be succeeded by four-year assistant coach Blake Mudd.

Bennett led the Eagles to a state championship in 2010 and Kansas Christian Athletic Association title-game appearances each of the last three years. Veritas’s 64-30 record under Bennett included a 19-game winning streak that ended in a 2011 KCAA championship loss to St. Mary’s. Veritas went 8-3 in the 2012 season, which also ended with a loss to St. Mary’s.
