From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for June 6, 1973:

• The Register of Deeds office in the Douglas County Courthouse this week began the huge job of microfilming all the record books in that office, some going back to the 1800s. David Smith of Eudora, shown in a photo operating the scanning machine, said that he could get about three books of records on one roll of microfilm five inches in diameter.
• Sunflower Cablevision this week received first prize in a recent national competition for its political reporting. General manager John Dennis said that there had been 486 entries in the various divisions of the contest; Sunflower had competed against other independently-owned stations with under 8,000 subscribers. The station was given the prize for its thorough coverage of a recent primary election.
• Kansas University football coach Don Fambrough and assistant athletic director Gale Sayers were the scheduled guests for the “KU is No. 1” luncheon planned this week at the Holiday Inn. About 150 people were expected to attend the event, which was sponsored by the KU Alumni Association and the Chamber of Commerce Sports Committee.
