The first splashers of the summer hit the water Monday in the South Park Wading Pool, which opened its gates for the season at 1:30 p.m.

If accompanied by an adult, children 6 and under can enjoy the zero-depth entry area, fountains and water sprays for free at the public wading pool at 1141 Massachusetts St.

South Park Wading Pool will be open 1:30-7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 1-6 p.m. Saturday and closed on Sundays. For a fee of $25 per hour, the facility may also be reserved for birthday parties or special events from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

Awesome! My dogs have been waiting for this. They're going to enjoy having the pool to splash around in.

I don't believe dogs are allowed at the public pools until after they closed. They have one special day for dog swim time and then the pool closes for the season.

Your kids are more likely to pee in the water than my dogs are.

South Park Wading Pool will be open 1:30-7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 1-6 p.m. Saturday

If they're not open, then they're closed. Therefore my dogs can get their fun time in. Do it all the time.
