KU picks architects for new School of Business building

Kansas University has selected two architectural firms to design a $60 million building for the KU School of Business, KU announced Monday.

Gensler, a global firm, will serve as the chief designer of the building. The Kansas City, Mo., firm Gastinger Walker Harden + Bee Triplett Buck will be a local partner, helping to implement the design. A committee of KU officials selected the two firms out of five national-local duos.

The cost of the contracts with the two firms is not yet finalized, a School of Business spokesman said. The cost of the new building, to be located on Naismith Drive across from Allen Fieldhouse, is estimated at roughly $60 million. Business Dean Neeli Bendapudi has said she hopes for the new facility to open for the 2015-16 school year.
