Two injured in Interstate 70 accident transported by LifeStar helicopter

Two Lawrence residents were injured in a one-vehicle accident along Interstate 70 around 5 p.m. Sunday. They were transported by LifeStar helicopter to the University of Kansas Medical Center.

The accident occurred in the westbound lane of I-70, about 9 miles west of Lawrence.

According to the Kansas Turnpike Authority, Brett Dickey, 24, lost control of the 2002 GMC Envoy when passenger Davia Dickey, 27, grabbed the steering wheel, causing the vehicle to enter the ditch and roll.

Davia Dickey and 5-year-old Aiden Dickey were injured in the accident. No details about their current conditions were available.

According to the KTA report, Davia Dickey was not wearing a seatbelt.
