East Central Kansas Economic Opportunity Corporation supports and provides resources that enable families and individuals to achieve self-sufficiency. ECKAN is looking for volunteers to organize donations of school supplies and pack the supplies in back packs. The supplies will be distributed in early August. Immediate needs

• The Jayhawk Area Agency on Aging implements programs to help senior citizens live independent and dignified lives. The Agency is looking for volunteers to help paint an access ramp for one of their clients. Supplies and tools are provided. To volunteer, please contact Dorothy Devlin at 785-832-0754, ext. 3.

• The West Middle School Garden provides produce for the West Middle School cafeteria, as well as clients of Douglas County Health Department, Bert Nash Mental Health Center, Visiting Nurses Association and Health Care Access. The organization is holding the second annual Running for Food, Running for Health 5K race on Saturday, July 27.
