FSHS long snapper earns top ranking

January 30, 2013

Reid Buckingham, a junior center and long snapper for the Free State High football team, earned the No. 7 spot in the Top 12 among underclassmen at the 11th Annual National Chris Rubio Long Snapping Event, held Jan. 19-20 in Las Vegas.

The event drew 179 high school and junior college long snappers from the U.S. and Canada.

Buckingham’s No. 7 ranking earned him an invite to an exclusive Top 12 event in Los Angeles this summer.

According to Rubio’s website, Buckingham “had an excellent weekend” at the event. “His form is solid and so is his body. As he continues to fine tune the little things, he will continue to move up the charts. Works well under pressure and is driven.”
