Lawrence Humane Society seeking temporary housing for up to 60 dogs

The Lawrence Humane Society will be undergoing kennel repairs in February and is in need of temporary housing for up to 60 dogs. The animal shelter will provide free pet food, supplies and veterinary care for the fostered animals, along with foster care orientation workshops.

Foster volunteers are required by the Kansas Department of Agriculture to register and pay a $10 license fee. The humane society will also limit its dog intake for February to stray dogs only in order to help manage the shelter population while the kennels are fixed.

Free foster care orientations will be conducted at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, 2110 Harper St., at:

• 5 p.m. Thursday in Building 1;

• 1 p.m. Saturday in Building 2;

• 5 p.m. Jan. 31 in Building 1;

• 1 p.m. Feb. 2 in Building 1.

For more information or to schedule an alternative orientation date, send email to volunteer@lawrencehumane.org or call 785-843-6835.
