McLouth police seize gun, methamphetamine in drug bust

A quantity of methamphetamine and a gun were seized, and a 26-year-old man was arrested on drug charges Friday morning at a house in the 600 block of East Lake Street in McLouth.

Landon Stevenson, of McLouth, was arrested on suspicion of possession and distribution of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia after McLouth police, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, and an entry team from the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at the house about 8:30 a.m. Friday.

McLouth police obtained the search warrant after responding to a burglary at another location the night before, said McLouth Police Chief Marcus Koch. That investigation included the arrest of another McLouth man on a drug possession charge and led officers to the house on East Lake Street.

“That’s been a place of interest to the McLouth Police Department for a while,” Koch said.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has not released information about the quantity of drugs or the type of gun seized.

Stevenson remains in the Jefferson County Jail. A second man arrested at the house on Friday, Kenneth McAfee, 45, was booked into the jail on an unrelated Shawnee County warrant and has been released on bond.
