? Caden Lynch and Alan Clothier claimed first-place finishes and Lawrence High’s wrestling team placed third Saturday at the Maize Tournament.

Lynch took first at 138 pounds, and Clothier was first at 170.

Alex Jones bagged second place at 285, and Garrett Girard and Andrew Denning were third at 126 and 182, respectively.

Ryan Bellinger took fourth place at 152 in his first competition of the season, Xavier Kenney was fourth at 106, and Malik Davis was fourth at 220. Tim Thongone (120) and Cy Burghart (132) took sixth-place finishes.

“For our first tournament coming back off break, it was really good,” LHS coach Pat Naughton said. “Everybody won a match. Everybody was excited about wrestling again. It was a real good day for everybody. We only brought 10 guys, but we were still able to score enough points to place third in a tough tournament.”

Next action for the Lions is Friday and Saturday at the Newton Tournament.
