No suspects in Dec. 26 burglary of Boys and Girls Club

Police have not identified suspects in the recent theft of $1,500 in property from The Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence, 1430 Haskell Ave.

The burglary was discovered after 1:30 a.m. Dec. 26, and may have occurred Christmas Day. According to the Lawrence Police Department, one or more thieves broke a window in the rear of the building to gain access and then stole several items including DVDs, video games and custodial equipment. Ten red bean bag chairs were also stolen, and the club reported $100 in damage, including the broken window.

Sgt. Tent McKinley, a Lawrence Police Department spokesman, said the break-in was particularly unfortunate given the club’s mission and limited budget.
