Lawrence man pleads not guilty to two counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child
A 74-year-old Lawrence man pleaded not guilty Thursday in Douglas County District Court to two counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child.
The man was arrested Aug. 31 and is charged with sexually abusing a 5-year-old girl. Police believe the abuse occurred over several months at a residence in East Lawrence, Lawrence Police Sgt. Trent McKinley said.
Both charges carry a sentence of 25 years to life, and trial is set for April 15. The man is free on a $75,000 bond.
The Journal-World generally does not identify sex crime suspects unless they are convicted.
