From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Feb. 24, 1973:

• Jerry May, project engineer for Constant Construction Co., contractors for the recent Downtown Redevelopment Project, said today that the company would soon be taking a survey of the project area to see what damage, if any, had been caused by winter weather. May said that he did not know of any damage but wanted to confirm that there was none before construction was to resume in four to six weeks. About six weeks’ worth of work remained on the project, including construction of planters, some brick work, off-street sidewalks, and a few street lights.
• William H. Cape, a 52-year-old political science professor at Kansas University, had died at Lawrence Memorial Hospital where he had been taken after an apparent heart attack earlier in the day. Prof. Cape had been a member of the KU faculty off and on since 1948 and a full-time member since 1961. He had been a military veteran of World War II and was widely known for his research in public administration.
