The Class 6A sub-state basketball brackets were unveiled Saturday and both the Lawrence High boys and Free State girls earned first-round home games.

As the No. 4 seed, the Lions’ boys (12-8) will play host to No. 5 Blue Valley West (11-9) at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

The Firebirds’ girls, a No. 3 seed, play host to No. 6 Olathe North (5-15) at 7 p.m. Thursday. Free State won, 53-42, Feb. 15 at O-North.

Both the LHS girls and FSHS boys will open the postseason on the road.

Lawrence’s girls (3-17), seeded eighth, must visit No. 1 seed Olathe South (18-1) at 7 p.m. Thursday. The Lions fell, 43-15, to O-South on Jan. 11 at LHS.

Free State’s boys (9-11), a No. 7 seed, travel to No. 2 Gardner-Edgerton (12-8) for a 7 p.m. Wednesday game.

Sub-state championship games will be Friday for the boys and Saturday for the girls, with the higher seeds playing host.
