Income tax cuts signed into law last year by Gov. Sam Brownback will be the subject of a public discussion at the Dole Institute of Politics between state Sen. Tom Holland and Kansas Department of Revenue Secretary Nick Jordan.
The event will start at 4 p.m. Sunday and is free and open to the public.
Holland, D-Baldwin City, is the ranking Democrat on the Senate tax committee and a vocal opponent of the tax cuts. Jordan has been Brownback's point man pushing for income tax cuts.
The cuts reduced state personal income tax rates and eliminated state income taxes for 191,000 business owners.
Brownback has said the cuts will improve the economy, but Democrats note that the cuts have produced huge revenue shortfalls for state government.

Who cares what ULTRA LIBERAL HOLLAND has to say or even what he thinks? He had his chance when he ran for Governor and he and his VERY LIBERAL views were soundly rejected by the citizens of Kansas. LOSER HOLLAND will continue to whine and not offer any new ideas that Kansans want to hear.

There are no liberals in Kansas. The democrats are right of where Reagan was. The republican governor and legislature are now right of Benito Mussolini. They hate gays. They hate women. They hate the poor. They hate minorities. They won't tolerate the loyal opposition. They've brainwashed fools like wastewatcher through Fox News and repeating lies so frequently that the lies have taken root.

Who cares what a Brownback appointee says when recent history shows the current administrations numbers are off by billions of dollars?

I know Holland, he is a good man. His problem is he likes to spend to much money. Legislators like him are the reason there is not much in the states coffers.

The democrats have never controlled the legislature which by law sets the budget. Therefore any budget problems rest squarely in the hands of the GOP.
