KU softball shut out, 1-0

? Kansas University sophomore Alicia Pille allowed just one run and struck out six over six innings, but the Jayhawks managed just four hits in a 1-0 shutout loss to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Thursday.

“We need to be more aggressive,” KU coach Megan Smith said. “I think we were really passive in all areas of the game today.”

Corpus Christi (3-8) scored its only run on a bases-loaded walk in the third.

Senior captain Maggie Hull battled a stomach virus prior to the game, but was able to make her 170th-consecutive start by stepping in at the designated player position and was one of four Jayhawks to record a hit. She and the other three captains, Alex Jones, Maddie Stein and Mariah Montgomery each hit singles.

Kansas (7-3) will kick off the Islander Classic today. KU will face TAMU-CC at 11 a.m. and Auburn at 1 p.m.
