Shawnee ? Veritas Christian fell behind, 8-0, in the first quarter on Monday at Midland Adventist, but the Eagles regrouped and cruised to a 37-24 girls basketball victory.

Eighth-grader Naomi Hickman led Veritas with 10 points, and senior Maddie Bennett scored nine. Veritas held Midland to just 10 points in the last three quarters after the Eagles trailed 14-9 at the end of the first.

Veritas (9-12) will play host to Marais des Cygnes on Friday.
