Topeka ? The Kansas University Cancer Center on Thursday will present its 2013 Leadership Award to Kansas Senate President Susan Wagle for her support of cancer research, therapies and prevention.

Wagle, R-Wichita, has survived two bouts with lymphoma and recently underwent chemotherapy treatment for non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

She was given a clean bill of health from her physician last fall and was elected by her colleagues in December as Senate president.

A presentation to Wagle will be made in the Statehouse at 8:20 a.m. by KU Chancellor Bernadette Gray-Little and Dr. Roy Jensen, KU Cancer Center director.
