A Lawrence man is in jail after allegedly pulling a knife during an argument over a bowl of rice, police report.

Danton Dave Eichi, 46, was booked into Douglas County Jail Monday afternoon after police responded to a call of a disturbance involving a weapon just before 4 p.m. in the 4100 block of West 24th Place.

A caller told police that an argument had ensued over a bowl of rice before Eichi allegedly displayed a knife, according to Kim Murphree, a Lawrence Police Department spokeswoman.

Police arrested Eichi on suspicion of assault and obstruction of legal procedure. Murphree said that Eichi was also wanted on three outstanding warrants on charges of failing to appear in municipal court.

Eichi was in jail Tuesday morning on $1,000 bond.
