RECOGNITION/PROCLAMATION/PRESENTATION:

CONSENT AGENDA:

  1. Approve City Commission meeting minutes from Nov. 26.
  2. Receive minutes from various boards and commissions: Bert Nash Governing Board of Directors meeting Nov. 26, Lawrence-Douglas County Health Board meeting Oct. 21.
  1. Approve all claims. The list of approved claims will be posted to the agenda the day after the City Commission meeting.
  1. Approve licenses as recommended by the City Clerk’s Office.
  2. Approve appointments as recommended by the mayor.
  3. Bid and purchase items:

    a) Award Bid #B1369, for purchase of (12) 4 yard, (14) 6 yard, (12) 8 yard front loader containers and (2) 30 yard and (2) 40 yard roll-off containers, to Downing Sales & Services, Inc. in the amount of $44,268.

  1. Accept dedications of Tract B, Fox Chase South Addition No. 3, located along Kanza Drive. Submitted by Devco, Inc., the property owner of record.

2013-2014 Meeting List

City Commission meeting scheduled for Dec. 31 has been canceled due to New Year’s Eve.

City offices will be closed on Jan. 1, 2014 in observance of New Year’s Day.

Board of Zoning Appeals/Sign Code Board of Appeals: One vacancy for a position that expired Sept. 30, 2013.

Building Code Board of Appeals: One vacancy for a position that expired Nov. 30, 2013. Two positions expired Nov. 30, 2013 and are eligible for reappointment to additional terms. Eligibility requirements exist for this board.

Community Development Advisory Committee: One vacancy for a position that expired Sept. 30, 2013 and one vacancy for a position that expires Sept. 30, 2013. Eligibility requirements exist for this board.

Contractor Licensing Board: Three positions expire Dec. 31, 2013. Two positions will become vacant and one position is eligible for reappointment to an additional term. Eligibility requirements exist for this board.

Electrical Code Board of Appeals: One vacancy for a position that expired March 31 2012. Eligibility requirements exist for this board.

Homeless Issues Advisory Committee: Three positions expire Dec. 31, 2013. One position will become vacant and two positions will be eligible for reappointment to additional terms.

Horizon 2020 Steering Committee: The purpose of the steering committee is to guide the process for amending Horizon 2020, the comprehensive plan for the City of Lawrence. The steering committee will consist of ten members, with four members appointed by the city, four members appointed by the county, one joint city/county appointment, and one school district appointment.

Jayhawk Area Agency on Aging: One vacancy on the advisory council for a position that expires Sept. 30, 2014. One position expired Sept. 30, 2013 and is eligible for reappointment to an additional term.

Lawrence Alliance: Two vacancies for positions that expired Nov. 30, 2012 and one vacancy for a position that expired Nov. 30, 2013. Five additional terms expired Nov. 30, 2013 and all are eligible for reappointment to additional terms.

Lawrence Douglas County Advocacy Council on Aging: One vacancy for a position that expires Dec. 31, 2014. Five positions expire Dec. 31, 2013 and all are eligible for reappointment to additional terms.

Lawrence Douglas County Bicycle Advisory Committee: Three positions expire Dec. 31, 2013 and all are eligible for reappointment to additional terms.

Parks & Recreation Advisory Board: One vacancy for a position that expires Dec. 31, 2015.

Public Transit Advisory Committee: Three positions expire Dec. 31, 2013 and all are eligible for reappointment to additional terms.

Sales Tax Audit Committee: One vacancy for a position that expires April 30, 2014.

Sister Cities Advisory Board: One vacancy for a position that expires Dec. 31, 2015. Five additional positions expire Dec. 31, 2013 and all are eligible for reappointment to additional terms.
