Reaney award: Notre Dame junior swimmer Emma Reaney, a former Lawrence High standout, has received recognition from the Atlantic Coast Conference after the Irish went to Iowa City and dominated the competition to win the 2013 Hawkeye Invitational. Reaney, who was named ACC Women’s Swimmer of the Week, has earned four of the 10 weekly awards given out during the fall season, which bumps her total to 10 in three seasons between the Big East and ACC. After turning in an NCAA cut and meet record (2:07.64) in the prelims of the 200 breaststroke, Reaney went faster, smashing her own school record as well as the meet and pool records with an NCAA cut time of 2:05.85 in the finals. The time was also the best in the country.

Junior Firebird dance clinic: The Free State Dancers will hold their annual Junior Firebird Dance Clinic from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 12. It is open to girls ages preschool through sixth grade.
