Tonganoxie — A dominant second quarter powered the Tonganoxie High boys to their first win of the season, as they closed out 2013 with a drubbing of Anderson County on Thursday.

The teams were tied at 6-6 after the opening period, but THS (1-2) scored the first 20 points of the second to take control. The Chieftains led by 21 at the break, 30-9, and the Bulldogs (0-3) never mounted a serious comeback attempt in the second half.

The Chieftains won’t be back on the court until a Jan. 7 visit from Bishop Ward.
