Lawrence police identified the man who was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital after driving into oncoming traffic on 6th Street Monday as Roy Siscoe, 83, of Lawrence.

A LMH supervisor said Siscoe was in serious condition on Tuesday.

Trent McKinley, a Lawrence Police Department spokesperson, identified Siscoe as the driver who allegedly drove into oncoming traffic and struck another vehicle. McKinley said it is likely a medical emergency preceded the collision.

The accident occurred at about 1:15 p.m. near the intersection of Sixth and Missouri streets. The two passengers of the second vehicle did not require hospitalization, although one suffered minor injuries, McKinley said.
