Lions girls fall to BVSW

? Lawrence High’s girls basketball team couldn’t overcome a 12-point first-quarter deficit and fell to Blue Valley Southwest, 67-43, on Thursday night.

Ten LHS players scored, led by Jolona Shield with 17 points. Makayla Bell added eight points.

“Our energy level overall wasn’t what it needs to be to be competitive against a really good team,” Lions coach Nick Wood said. “We just have to learn how to show up and compete for four quarters. We have some growing pains, but we’ll continue to fight through it, and we’ll get better.”

The Lions (0-3) will play Monday at Kansas City Wyandotte.
