Water main break at 2447 W. Sixth St. closes eastbound lane of traffic

A water main break at 2447 W. Sixth St. has closed the right eastbound lane of traffic, according to a news release from the city.

Lawrence utility crews will be on site to repair the water main break this afternoon. Although the repairs are expected to be completed today, the lane will likely remain closed through the end of the week for repair of the street. Traffic control devices have been set up to notify motorists of the lane closure. Utility crews will notify all affected customers.

The water main is a 12-inch cast iron pipe installed in 1962, the city said.
