The Douglas County Community Foundation is looking for projects to fund

The Douglas County Community Foundation is looking for projects to fund through the Elizabeth Schultz Environmental Fund. The application deadline is Oct. 1.

The foundation is seeking projects that are committed to preserving and understanding nature and to conserving resources. Projects can take scientific, cultural, educational, aesthetic or economic approaches to accomplishing those goals.

An information session on the grant process will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the community classroom at The Merc, 9th and Iowa streets.

Elizabeth Schultz created the fund in 2005. Since then 43 grants totaling nearly $163,000 have been distributed through the fund.
