Kansas City man injured in Leavenworth County motorcycle accident

A Kansas City man was taken to Kansas University Hospital after being injured in a motorcycle accident south of Tonganoxie Tuesday afternoon.

Christopher R. Blum, 27, was injured when the motorcycle he was driving east on U.S. Highway 24 struck a car stopped in traffic about 5:30 p.m., according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. The driver of the car, Ashley Wagner, of Leavenworth, was not injured in the accident, which occurred just east of Honeycreek Road, about two miles south of Tonganoxie, according to the patrol.

Hospital officials said they could not release information about Blum, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, according to the patrol. Wagner was wearing a seatbelt.

The crash was at least the fourth serious motorcycle accident in northeast Kansas in the past week. On Thursday, a Lawrence man died in a motorcycle accident on Rockledge Road, near Centennial Park. On Friday, a man died shortly after a motorcycle accident in Shawnee. On Tuesday morning, a Missouri man died from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident the night before west of Baldwin in Douglas County.
