Police have identified a man killed Thursday in a motorcycle accident on Rockledge Road as 27-year-old Ian White of Lawrence.

White died minutes after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car near the intersection of Moundview Drive and Rockledge Road at about 4:15 p.m. Thursday, said Sgt. Trent McKinley, a Lawrence Police Department spokesman.

The motorcycle, a 2012 Honda, was traveling south on Rockledge Road when it struck a 2003 Nissan Altima traveling north on the same road driven by Tony Dolman, 64.

Dolman was not seriously injured in the crash, and no other passengers were in the car or on the motorcycle, according to police. White was not licensed to operate a motorcycle in the state of Kansas.

White had worked as a manager at the Lawrence restaurant Ingredient, at 947 Massachusetts St. The restaurant was closed today in observance of White’s death, according to the Ingredient Lawrence Facebook page.

A preliminary investigation by the police department’s traffic unit showed no evidence that either driver was impaired, though the case will remain open until blood tests and a coroner’s report are completed later this year. Police will not issue of any citations or review possible charges until that evidence is available, McKinley said.
