KVC Behavioral Health Care enriches and enhances the lives of children and families by providing medical and behavioral health care, social services, and education. Possible volunteer opportunities include providing child care and activities during foster parent trainings, office tasks, assisting with special events, and organizing clothing donations. Immediate needs

• Lawrence Memorial Hospital is looking for energetic and compassionate people who are willing to be a part of the caring team of healthcare providers at LMH. Several volunteer opportunities are available with Lawrence Memorial Hospital. At the main hospital, volunteers are needed in the following areas: greeters, escort volunteers, lead escort volunteer, endoscopy center reception, Fit for Life program, gift shop, information desk, Mario’s Closet, oncology, Wayfinders, and the admission desk. At LMH South, volunteers are needed at the Breast Center.  For more information, please contact Alyson Leland at allyson.leland@lmh.org or at 505-3141.

• The Dogtoberfest is an annual event held in Lawrence that celebrates dogs and works to raise money to support the local Humane Society and other various dog related non-profit organizations. This year the event is on Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, from 11-3 p.m. in South Park Downtown Lawrence. We need the help of enthusiastic individuals who have a passion for helping animals and want to make this Dogtoberfest the best one yet. Volunteer opportunities range from helping with registration to assisting with games for the children to assisting the Lawrence Humane Society with their adoptable Pet Parade! • Big Brothers Big Sisters of Douglas County provides one-to-one relationships for children facing adversity. A young woman, almost 13 years old is looking for a mature, confident and committed adult mentor through the Big Brothers Big Sisters program.  She tends to be very shy at first but has a wonderfully warm personality and is easy to spend time with.  She looks to spend time with her Big Sister playing any kind of sports and is open to doing all sorts of activities! She has a twin brother and three other siblings, so she could definitely benefit from one on one time with a caring adult role model.
