Texas Tech baseball rips KU in finale, 16-5

? Texas Tech cleanup hitter Jarrard Poteete went 4-for-5 with a double and three RBIs, and left fielder Brett Bell chipped in four hits and three runs as the Red Raiders avoided the sweep with a 16-5 Big 12 baseball victory over Kansas University on Sunday at Rip Griffin Park.

KU fell to 24-15 overall, 9-6 in the Big 12. Tech (18-22, 5-10) snapped a nine-game losing streak.

Though the teams battled to a 5-all tie through three innings, Tech kept on scoring, with three in the fourth, a single run in the sixth, three in the seventh and four more in the eighth.

The 18 hits and 16 runs allowed were KU season-worsts.

KU will host Oral Roberts at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
