LHS baseball wins, 1-0, in 10 innings

Lawrence High’s Shane Willoughby batted in C.J. Stuever in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift LHS baseball over Topeka Seaman, 1-0, on Friday night.

Willoughby also was the winning pitcher, throwing four innings in relief of Stuever. Stuever started and yielded three hits, Willoughby two. Lawrence High (7-2) had eight hits. Stuever was 3-for-5 with a double and stolen base.

“Stuever was dynamite,” LHS coach Brad Stoll said. “Seaman is a premier program in the state of Kansas, and they threw their stud, who threw 95 pitches in 10 innings, and we finally broke through in the 10th. It was a tremendous high school baseball game.”
