LHS tennis 2-1 at Washburn quad

? Lawrence High’s boys tennis team went 2-1 Wednesday at the Washburn Rural quad. The Lions defeated Topeka West, 4-0, and Topeka Seaman, 3-1, and fell to Rural, 3-1.

Thomas Irick went 3-0 at No. 1 singles, and Elliott Abromeit was 2-1 at No. 2 singles. The Lions’ No. 1 doubles team of Austin Abbott and Christoph Brandt went 2-1, and the LHS No. 2 doubles team of Kley Bolivar and Johnathon Kinder was 1-2.

“It was a very good day,” said LHS coach Chris Marshall, whose birthday was Wednesday. “I thought all of our players have improved. It was an excellent birthday present from them.”

The Lions play Tuesday in a dual vs. Free State at LHS.
