Dane McCullough no-no lifts FSHS baseball

April 3, 2013

— Dane McCullough pitched a no-hitter, and Free State High’s baseball team blanked Shawnee Mission South, 12-0, in five innings Tuesday.

Joe Dineen hit a two-run home run, and Jacob Caldwell hit a two-run triple to lead the Firebirds.

McCullough struck out six and walked two and also went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

“Dane controlled the game from the mound,” FSHS coach Mike Hill said. “He was outstanding. I’m not even sure he had great command with his second pitch, but he was dominant with his fastball. We made a couple good plays behind him.”

FSHS (5-0) will entertain Olathe Northwest on Thursday.

12 runs on 6 hits? 4 SMS errors? Sounds like the key to Free State's win was to invite SMS to play in the first place.
