Area election roundup

The unofficial election results are in. Here’s a roundup of area races outside of Lawrence.


Baldwin City

• Marilyn Pearse appears to have edged out Jason Mock in the Baldwin City mayoral race, receiving 235 votes to Mock’s 222 votes. Bonnie Plumberg finished third in the race with 99 votes.

• Katheryn Gerstner and Christi Darnell earned at-large seats on the Baldwin City Council. Gerstner received 408 votes, Darnell received 329 votes and Michael Paulick was third with 161 votes.

• Gregory Kruger defeated Toby Ebel for the District One position on the Baldwin City School Board. Kruger received 414 votes to Ebel’s 275 votes. Sheryl Gill and Nicole Tiller also earned school board positions, running unopposed.

Eudora

• Jolene Born and Tim Reazin won seats on the Eudora City Commission. Born and Reazin were a part of a group of four competing for two seats. Born received 204 votes, Reazin 184, Hopson 162 and Jerry W. Trober Sr. 79 votes.

• Incumbents Eric Votaw, Joseph Hurla and Michael Kelso retained their positions on the Eudora School Board. The three were the top vote earners in a group of four. Vote totals: Votaw 325, Hurla 258, Kelso 239, Bryan Maring 199.

Lecompton

• Sandra Jacquot defeated Mark Tunstall in the Lecompton mayoral race, 59 votes to 34 votes.

• Elsie I. Middleton won a seat on the Lecompton City Council, running unopposed.

• Tiffany Ball defeated Ryan Rush, 225 votes to 94 votes, for a seat on the Perry-Lecompton School board. Gene Barrett and Traci Eddy also earned seats on the board, running unopposed.

Wellsville School District

• Ron Bloss, Clyde Coons and Juanita Peckham all retained their positions on the Wellsville School Board. All three ran unopposed.


Shawnee Heights School District School

• As of now, the race for Position FIve on the Shawnee Heights School Board appears too close to call. Votes totaled from Douglas and Shawnee Counties have Jason Schulz and James Zimmerman tied at 381 votes apiece.

• Gene Edwards leads Kevin McGinnis by nine votes for Position Four on the Shawnee Heights School District. Edwards received 444 votes and McGinnis received 435 votes.

• Russell E. Doty won Position Six in the school board race, defeating Shawn Maisberger and Richard A. Mills.

Santa Fe Trail School District

• Amy Croat defeated Mark VanCamp, 654 votes to 354 votes, to win a seat on the Santa Fe Trail School Board. Michele Ferris, Zachary Anshutz, Randy Boudeman also earned seats, running unopposed.

• A $4.6 million bond issue was approved by 741 people, 66 percent of voters.
