Terrebonne Po’ Boys and Desserts

Tucked inside a tiny lean-to abutting Great Harvest Bread Co., this restaurant is easy to miss if you don’t know what you’re looking for.

But if you make it inside and find a seat (there are only 14), you’re in for a treat.

Named for a parish on the southernmost tip of Louisiana, Terrebonne serves up more than a half-dozen kinds of po’ boys (including gator, crawfish and andouille), Muffaletta and other sandwiches, gumbo, fried okra, hushpuppies and OMG-good desserts like toffee milkshakes and gooey cookie bars.

Decor is funky granny kitchen, with 1950s chrome dinette tables, vinyl chairs, a big green bookshelf (mainly for hot sauce) and lots of folksy 1970s yarn-art on the walls.

Terrebonne used to be a lunch-only spot, but it’s now open for dinner, too.

If there’s not a seat inside, and the weather’s nice, there are a few outdoor tables in the breezeway next to the restaurant. Or there’s always to-go bags.
