Eudora blanks Spring Hill

? Andrew Ballock ran for 107 yards and a touchdown on nine carries and threw a touchdown pass to Tanner Torneden, and Eudora blanked Spring Hill to remain undefeated.

Also scoring for Eudora were Markis Hill on a 35-yard run and Garret Elston on an 8-yard run.

Ballock scored on a 75-yard run and threw a 42-yard scoring pass to Torneden.

The Cardinals (5-0) will entertain St. James on Friday.

Baldwin 19, De Soto 6

De Soto — Baldwin’s do-everything junior Cornell Brown responded Friday when asked to do something different.

Moved to quarterback from his usual flanker position for the Bulldogs’ game against De Soto with the injury to senior starter Tyler Cawley, Brown ran for two touchdowns, had an interception and broke up a pass in Baldwin’s 19-6 victory at De Soto.

Baldwin (3-2) scored first when Brown scored from a yard out with 6:10 to play in the first quarter. Brown set up the touchdown with a 48-yard run to the one-yard line two plays earlier.

He also provided the clinching touchdown with 51 seconds remaining in the game with a tackle-busting 15-yard run.

The Baldwin defense also stepped up, allowing the Wildcats no offensive points.

The lone score for De Soto (1-4) came on a 45-yard run after a fumble recovery by senior defensive lineman Austin Reinertsen with 5:25 to play in the third quarter, which briefly tied the game at 6-6.

Baldwin responded with a six-play, 70-yard scoring drive.

Freshman Jake Katzer started the drive with a 39-yard run and ended it five plays later with a 13-yard touchdown run, putting the Bulldogs back in front, 12-6.

Tonganoxie 30, K.C. Bishop Ward 16

Tonganoxie — Tyler Ford threw for 317 yards, ran for 87 more and accounted for three touchdowns as Tonganoxie scored a two-touchdown homecoming victory against Bishop Ward Friday at Beatty Field.

The Chieftains (2-3), who hadn’t won a homecoming game since 2008, jumped out to a 13-0 lead at halftime and scored two more touchdowns in the third quarter to give themselves some breathing room. The Cyclones (0-5, 0-4) scored a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns but never got within two possessions.

Shane Levy hauled in six catches for 173 yards, including a 90-yard scoring strike from Ford in the third quarter. Ford also hooked up with Eric Tate for a 20-yard score.

Cole Holloway added 109 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

McLouth 47, Pleasant Ridge 20

McLouth — McLouth led 22-6 at halftime on three touchdown passes by Marc Walbridge.

Walbridge threw three more touchdown passes in the second half, as McLouth rolled to a 27-point win. Nick McAferty caught 12 passes for 222 yards receiving and five touchdowns.
