Best of Lawrence 2012: Best Place for Romance

White tablecloths, roses in vases, accordion music and spaghetti aren’t the only route to romance.

A little more raucousness can be romantic, too. Add adventurous food and sexy cocktails, and you’ve got a place that’s downright sultry.

715 executive chef and owner Michael Beard says he wanted his restaurant to be intimate but not stuffy, a “lighthearted” place where louder crowds and couples alike fit in.

Case in point: A recent evening’s drink features included both an $11-per-glass Bordeaux and Miller High Life cans.

715’s dinner menu does have spaghetti (after all, Beard trained in Italy). There also are dishes such as fried chicken livers, rabbit ravioli and lamb meatball pizza.

Artisan cocktails come in categories. Pick your potion — “light and bright,” “cunning and complex” or, ahem, “stiff and strapping.”
