LHS soccer loses shortened match

? Any chance Lawrence High’s boys soccer team had of knocking off the No. 2-ranked team in all classes Tuesday night ended when lightning postponed the Lions’ game at Olathe East at the half before it eventually was called off.

LHS trailed 1-0 before weather halted the contest. Lawrence coach Mike Murphy said he had initially hoped the schools could reach an agreement on finishing the game at a later date, but because they completed a half, it would count as a 1-0 loss for the Lions (5-3-1).

O-East is ranked as the No. 2 team in Class 6A and the state by the Kansas Soccer Coaches Association.

Lawrence plays host to Shawnee Mission South at 7 tonight.
