Lawrence VFW Post 852 will mark National POW/MIA Recognition Day on Friday with a ceremony honoring service members who were prisoners of war or went missing in action, along with their families.

The ceremony will be at 6 p.m. Friday at the VFW post, 138 Ala.

Purple Heart recipient Chuck Bartles will be a guest speaker, and the event will also include a symbolic balloon release and a raffle. The ceremony is open to the public.
