Lions win ‘Air Strike’

Lawrence High football seniors Brad Strauss and Will Thompson were voted the U.S. Air Force’s Precision Air Strike of the Week for the state for their Week 2 performances at Shawnee Mission Northwest, a 42-13 LHS victory.

Quarterback Strauss threw for 169 yards and two touchdowns, one of those coming through the air on a 20-yard pass to receiver Thompson, who racked up 105 receiving yards.

Strauss and Thompson beat out duos from Derby, Dodge City, Hesston, Topeka and Wichita Collegiate.

Strauss and Thompson are now finalists for the U.S. Air Force’s Air Strike of the Year.
