40 years ago: K-10 project delayed, perhaps indefinitely

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for Sept. 13, 1972:

Breaking news revealed that a Johnson County judge had issued a ruling that officials feared might delay or even kill the planned Highway K-10 renovation and expansion between DeSoto and Highway K-7. One source had told reporters that a judge had ruled against the link on what he considered improper procedures in right-of-way acquisition. Kansas officials, however, claimed that they had been stringent in their application of all federal regulations before proceeding with the plans. One official stated, “This definitely knocks the project out of the October letting and may kill it altogether until we get a U.S. Supreme Court ruling — which could take a long, long time.”
