Eudora names interim police chief

Eudora city administrator John Harrenstein announced Wednesday that David Burger, a former undersheriff with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, has been named interim Eudora police chief.

Former Eudora Police Chief Grady Walker resigned Sept. 7.

Burger has spent three decades in law enforcement and has also worked for the Shawnee and Lenexa police departments. Burger retired from his post as undersheriff in 2010, according to a news release sent from Harrenstein’s office Wednesday.

“A man of his professional experience and reputation within the law enforcement community is exactly what we need at this time for the Eudora Police Department,” Harrenstein said.

Burger will assist with the search for a permanent police chief, Harrenstein said.
