The Lawrence Jewish Community Congregation needs two to four volunteers to help in the kitchen on their designated serving day at LINK, Lawrence Interdenominational Nutrition Kitchen. Help is need from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of each month at 221 W. 10th St., in the basement of the First Christian Church, starting Sept. 27. Immediate needs

• The Lawrence Percolator is looking for help with its new Percolator Artspace project, “Douglas County Arts Caravan,” which is headed to Baldwin City and Eudora in October. Using an array of art bikes, truck bed galleries and lots of art-making material, volunteers will spread laughter, paint and glee at Eudora Fest on Oct. 6, and will travel out again to Baldwin City on Oct. 26. Each day’s events will include free art workshops, performances, a parade, African drumming and a puppet theater ensemble. Volunteers are needed before the event to paint signs, create rolling art/puppets that could be used in the parade, and spread publicity in Baldwin City and Eudora. Volunteers are needed at the events to set up, assist with workshops, join in the activities and parade, and help with break down. All ages are welcome! • The Spencer Museum of Art is seeking outgoing, reliable volunteers to share their passion for art at the Visitor Services Desk this fall. Visitor services ambassadors are the face of the museum, so energy and enthusiasm is a must. In exchange for great volunteer service, the Spencer provides a meaningful and memorable volunteer experience, the opportunity to be an “insider” to the Spencer’s programs and activities, and valuable professional experience working in a museum. Volunteers are needed to work in two-hour shifts (some evening and weekend shifts are available); all volunteers must be 16 years of age or older, and training will be provided. • Trinity In-Home Care is looking for volunteers to support teens and adults with cognitive and developmental disabilities in a variety of social activities through its Discovery Group. Examples of activities the group does include bowling, board games, movies, theme parties, arts and crafts, and attending public events like speakers and performances. Discovery Group meets once a month, at varying locations, for a few hours in the evening, typically on Mondays from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. All volunteers must pass a background check and tuberculosis test. • Ten Thousand Villages needs a bunch of volunteers to help get its store ready to open in Lawrence. For more than 60 years, Ten Thousand Villages has cultivated an international marketplace where artisans in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East receive a fair price for their work, and consumers in North America have access to distinctive products from around the world. Ten Thousand Villages is a nonprofit fair trade retailer that uses all sales generated through the store to increase purchases from artisans and to finance the growth of the retail network. This new retailer will rely heavily on volunteers once it is open for business.
