Kastor scores twice in KU soccer victory

Caroline Kastor scored twice and assisted on another goal as the Kansas University soccer team took down Missouri State, 4-1, Friday at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex.

Jamie Fletcher and Ashley Williams added KU’s other goals.

The Jayhawks’ offense got off to a hot start on a cool night when Fletcher scored in the seventh minute off a Kastor cross. The two Jayhawks combined to score again in the 12th minute as Kastor knocked a Fletcher assist past the Bears goalkeeper.

Three minutes into the second half, Kastor sank her second goal for a 3-0 lead on a night when KU outshot MSU, 17-5 overall and 8-1 on goal.

The Bears’ lone goal came less than a minute later, early in the second half, on a 25-yard lob shot over KU goalie Kat Liebetrau.

The Jayhawks’ freshman forward, Williams, capped the scoring with a penalty kick in the 64th minute, her Big 12-leading sixth goal of the season. Williams has at least one goal in KU’s last three games.

The Jayhawks (5-1-1) will match up with North Carolina State at noon on Sunday at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex.
