• Bryan Falk has been named project architect in the BG Architecture division of BG Consultants Inc. Falk will be responsible for managing BG Architecture in the firm’s Lawrence office. Falk has more than seven years of experience in building design and project management. He has a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from the University of Missouri, a Master of Architecture from Kansas University and a Master of Science in architectural studies from MU. He is a LEED accredited professional and president-elect of AIA Topeka and has performed research focused on emerging technologies in architecture. Falk currently resides in Topeka but plans to move to the Lawrence area.

BG Consultants is a multidisciplinary firm that has been providing engineering, architectural, surveying and inspection services to the Midwest for 36 years.

• The Michelin Soccer Program and D&D Tire Inc., of Lawrence, donated more than $852 in funds and equipment to Kaw Valley Soccer Association. These funds will be used to provide scholarships, uniforms and other soccer essentials for the participating leagues. The Michelin Soccer Program pairs tire dealers with local youth soccer organizations, providing the dealers the opportunity to reach out to the community. The soccer leagues are sent certificates that can be redeemed at the dealer’s store for a free soccer ball during a 30-day promotional period, while supplies last. After a 60-day tire rebate promotion included on the certificate, Michelin donates $2 to the soccer organization for each tire sold during the program.

• John Esau, of Keller Williams Realty Diamond Partners in Lawrence, and Oliver Minnis, of Stephens Real Estate in Lawrence, recently graduated from the Right Track Leadership Academy presented by the Kansas Association of Realtors. Fourteen Kansas Realtors completed the five-day 2012 program, which included sessions on recognizing and maximizing individual and group strengths, diplomacy, conflict resolution, ethics, public-speaking skills, the psychology of leadership, conducting effective meetings, approaches to group decision-making and goal-setting systems. Minnis is the president of the Lawrence Board of Realtors, and Esau will fill that role in 2013.

• Quilting Bits & Pieces, 736 Main, Eudora, will celebrate 15 years of business Thursday. The celebration will include a three-day sale. Customers who bring in a 12 1/2-inch square quilt block will be entered in a daily drawing for gift certificates. The blocks will be joined together, and finished quilts will be donated to the Eudora Ministerial Alliance for needy families in the Eudora area. Sisters Amy Deay and Christina DeArmond opened Quilting Bits and Pieces on Nov. 1, 1997. Current owners include Amy, Christina, Kaye Spitzli, Eula Lang and Faith Gordon.
