Both of the city’s Class 6A football programs will enter this Friday’s highly anticipated city showdown ranked in the top five.

This week’s 6A Kansas Football Media Poll has Free State (7-1) maintaining its No. 2 spot and Lawrence (7-1) entering the rankings at No. 5 after receiving votes the past few weeks.

Hutchinson (6-2) holds the No. 1 spot, Derby (7-1) comes in at No. 3 and Wichita Heights (7-1) is ranked No. 4.

Both the Lions and Firebirds also appear in the poll’s Super 10, which ranks teams from all classes. Free State is No. 4 and Lawrence is No. 7.

Class 5A Wichita Bishop Carroll (8-0) is ranked No. 1 in the Super 10, followed by 5A Salina South (7-1) at No. 2 and Hutchinson at No. 3.
